It Takes Partners

Getting the CSA program off the ground takes a great deal of planning, design, support and dedication. THA appreciates the partnerships in the CSA program to date: Tacoma Public Schools, the Corporation for Enterprise Development, Bamford Foundation, Gates Foundation, Greater Tacoma Community Foundation, Medina Foundation, YMCA, Junior Achievement and Heritage Bank.

There is still much more to be done, but we are off to a good start. While THA will be the custodian of the accounts, families will receive statements showing how much money is in their child’s savings accounts. Heritage Bank has been working with THA to set up these accounts. Today’s technology makes it so much easier for folks to do online banking, such as making deposits, but that same technology also creates challenges for programming and IT departments.

It is THA’s goal to make it as easy as possible for families to make convenient deposits to their child’s college savings account. We are just about complete with some of the important details for the CSA bank accounts, including setting up secure email encryption with the bank. Families will also receive a special CSA account deposit slip for those that need to mail or drop off their deposits.

Deposits should be even easier to make once Heritage Bank opens its branch bank at Salishan.
